How Canopy Grew Across Singapore
Canopy started from a preference rather than a plan: given the choice between a room and a garden, take the garden. Everything since has followed from it. Instead of fitting a restaurant into whatever space came free, each Canopy was planted inside a landscape that was already worth sitting in, and the kitchen was built around it.
Which is why no two read alike. Jurong Lake Gardens looks out over water in the west. HortPark sits in parkland, with an indoor room that opens straight onto it. Esplanade takes the bay and the skyline behind it. Changi City Point is the everyday one, the garden you get to on a Tuesday. And Changi Village opens onto the sand, the only Canopy where lunch can end with a walk on the beach.
What every garden shares is easier to state. Real greenery, not potted decoration. Food worth lingering over. And a welcome that includes the pram and the dog.
